Yeah, someone got a heck of a deal. When I first clicked on the ad I was sure it was a used one. I was really surprised to see it was factory sealed.

I considered it before I posted the link, but I just can't do it right now. Hopefully by the time Crysis comes out I'll have money for one.

I sure looked at the ad but I noticed that the listing was actually an OEM model that only came with a 1 year warranty.

Retail for me.

I would imagine something will be different in the Q6600 as by then it will have gone through yet another stepping change When it hits 500~ USD,that is when I will buy in,with a Asus P5N-E SLI and 2 gigs of ram.I bet it oc's just as well as the higher clocked Quads. Some on this site, seem intent on wasting cash(making Intel richer) when these things will be dramatically cheaper (Lower enough in price that a mobo and or a good 2 Gig kit of DDR2 could be purchased as well) in just a few months, given the price difference we will soon see.

Did anyone jump on that Fry's deal where they gave you a mobo if you bought the retail Q6600 for $848? The mobo options were eVGA NF68, Abit AW9D-MAX, or Asus P5B Deluxe.

what's the best motherboard for the QX6700? not necessarily for overclocking, since i have no clue how, but for stability and most ports/features. also price is a factor. and one that doesn't crash on startup like the 680i with that new fast RAM

I had both CPUs, the X6800 and qx6700, and first hand, they are almost identical at the same CPU speeds. And, they should be.

No, they shouldn't be identical when running single or dual threaded apps. The QX6700 should be a bit slower because of the addtional communication overhead. Take a look at the AnandTech benchmarks, the E6700 is slightly faster than the QX6700 in games at same clock speed. When you give it a multi-threaded app, the QX6700 will be the undisputed winner.
