Default question about compiz

I know, i'm very late, hehehe. It's just now that I learned about compiz when I saw the post above.

Will there be a huge performance improvement on playback of H.264 and HD files when I use compiz?

Using any compositor will result in a performance loss, never a gain, as everything has to be rendered first off screen and then composited back onscreen.
