Default Playing 1080i MPEG-2 Video (Digital TV) using XVMC shutter/judder

Hi,

I'm having a little problem playing back 1080i digital TV, which causes a strange kind of "stutter" effect, where it appears smooth for a moment then some frames are skipped. It is subtle, but annoying enough that the whole experience is unsmooth video. I'm using the BOB hardware de-interlacer (using xine).

Card: 7600 GS GPU 400 mhz / MEM 400 mhz / AGP 8x
Driver: Both 9746 or 9631, x86 Linux.

MPEG-2 Resolutions (these are different TV stations here in Australia):

1) 720x576i (SD stations) FINE
2) 720x576p (Channel 7 ED) FINE
3) 1280x720p (ABC HD) FINE
4) 1440x1080i (NINE HD) FINE
5) 1920x1080i (TEN HD) *STUTTERS*

Could this simply be a performance issue with a 7600 GS? The CPU is not very busy, only 18% occupied at 1920x1080i.

I have similar issues with xvmc and always end up having to revert to xv. I've attempted to use both xvmc and xxmc and neither of them work properly with xine. There is always horrific stuttering with xvmc and xxmc tells me that it cannot allocate the buffer.

Do you have it only on 1080i too? Anything lower works great.
I now beleive it is simply a Xine problem, as this works without stutter:
Code:
 mplayer -vo xvmc:bobdeint -vc ffmpeg12mc "dvb://TEN HD"
Using mplayer 1.0rc1 compiled with ./configure --enable-xvmc. The only problem was mplayer didn't find the AC3 audio track, I had to manually type it into the channels.conf file.
