Default any confirmed price breaks or major revisions for 360 anytime soon?

Any confirmed price breaks or major revisions for 360 anytime soon? I'm thinking about getting one in Feb...... unless there's a confirmed new hardware revision or price break relatively soon.

The current rumors state that a new version of the Xbox360 will be released at the end of 07 (best guess is November 07). If having HDMI connectivity is that important to you then wait. If component or VGA connectivity are enough for you (they are for me) then pick one up ASAP. AFAIK the hardware issues that early adopters experienced are pretty much over. My 360 has been rock solid since Jan 06.

there was also a rumor that only the new revision would support IPTV, but imo, that would be very foolish of MS to do that to their current customers.

IPTV will probably be included with the new revision and an update for current 360 owners. its up to you whether or not you want to wait. you will also find that there are some awesome games coming out towards the middle/end of this year. so whether you decide now or later really makes no difference tbh.

its a tough choice.. Cause basically, it boils down to new DX10 card or a 360.

My friends in real life are starting to get 360's now, and I wouldn't mind getting one to play games with them online....

I'm going to hold out as long as possible either way, mostly for the sake of saving some money..

I dunno.

Put it this way then. Buy a 360 now or later and you will still get to play games, no matter how old they are and the system will continue for a good 4 years more.

Buy a dx10 card now and it'll be old news in 6months. Choice is yours.

The only thing confirmed atm is the .65nm cpu revision which MS have went on record about. When it's coming and whether it's going to be part of a new 360 SKU, no one knows. Although i do believe it'll be sometime this year.

There will be one regular and one sub revision of the 360 by the end of 2007.
The regular revision is the die shrink of the cpu, and some other consolidations, hardware redesigns. The only thing for sure at this point is the die shrink of the cpu. This revision should not offer any substantial additional functionality.

The sub revision will be avalilble only though iptv providers, and may not have any different hardware from the above unit.

But both of these updates will be in late 2007 at the earliest.

yes this is really the only thing officially confirmed. but from other sources, we see that there will be IPTV and a digital out (HDMI/DVI) emerging as well.
you have a while til Vista is widely accepted (on all levels) and DX10 titles will continue to be released and get better.

Marvel made a great call. a 360 will last you a while, but DX10 cards are constantly getting better and cheaper. id get a 360 for now. there are amazing titles coming out so it will keep you occupied

No, I look at it a different way.. A good computer(which I want to get anyways minus the graphics card to do other stuff besides gaming) with a good DX10 card will keep games looking about the same level or better than a 360 for the next 4 years or more(tweak graphic details when necessary as time goes on), since console graphics don't really change too too much.

I mean, my primary computer is still a 6800GT going on its 3rd year now. Its about the time I do a complete upgrade (every 3 years or so)

A 360 wold make more sense as a Windows media extender if only CableCard tech was more mature (and supported) and actually out for build it yourselfer's..

A 3rd option, which actually may be feasible is to take a break this year from games, and wait till 2008 to pick up both at reduced cost (I'm assuming by 2008 the 360's gotta drop by at least $50-100 in price, while say a 8800GTX equiv will probably be down by $100-200)

i seriously doubt it'll ever happen. hdmi and bigger hd are actually part (or could be) test unit. microsoft doesn't want to lose or piss off customers over this after over 10 millions of xbox360 sold. 10 millions is a lot.

also i really doubt microsoft will ever cut the price on 360 after ps3 being $600-500. and not to mention xbox360 is still a strong seller and they have halo3, gears of war 2, and big titles on way to help sell some more units.

marvel does have good points.

There will be multiple revision of the XBox360 hardware. These revisions will not make the original 360 obsolete, even though they may incorporate by default some hardware not sold with the original version. The primary reason for revisions is manufacturing cost reduction. Add on hardware like HDMI output, Blue Ray disk drive, larger hard disk and TV tuner/decoder will be made as addons for the original 360, even if they are incorporated into the main box at some point in time.
