Hello all!
I have been googling and searching the ubuntu / nvidia forums for help on this and have had no luck. Hardware Tyan K8WE Dual AMD Opteron 246's (2.0 GHz) 2GB RAM Software Kubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft Kernel Linux 2.6.17-10 x64 Xorg 7.1.1 Nvidia 1.0.9746 Trying to get the two cards setup in SLI mode similar to windows (which works fine). Xorg.0.log reports a) that there is no device section for the nVidia card at PCI:129:0:0 despite the fact that there is the proper DEVICE section in my xorg.conf file and b) Xorg.0.log then reports that the graphics card at 129:0:0 failed to initialize so SLI cannot start. Another interesting fact: lspci shows the cards on 2:0:0 and 81:0:0 while xorg shows 2:0:0 and 129:0:0. Not sure why that is. I have attached the xorg.conf, lspci output, Xorg.0.log and the output from the nvidia bug reporting tool. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! Scott |

(confusing that one tool numbers pci in hex and another does it in decimal, and no indication is given what the number base is, but that is how it is...) |

Please generate an nvidia-bug-report.log file after the problem has reproduced (see http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=46678).

My apologies! I thought I did that. Sorry if I botched it.
Here is one just created. I grep'd it for 'failed' and I see the failed to initialize message so there you go! I am interested to know what the problem is. Let me know if you need any additional system information. Scott |

It is possible that your system is running out of kernel virtual address space, you may want to try disabling vesafb and/or increasing the amount of kernel virtual memory reserved for I/O mappings, etc.; please see http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree8...ppendix-l.html for more information.

There was some issue in the BIOS. Adjusted something regarding the IOMMU (or something like that) and the something regarding a SLI Slave / Master setting. All is good now. No errors, so thanks for the help!
