My Asus a8n sli premium motherboard just started hitting 52C at load! I noticed it first after an OC (cpu) and when i ran prime. I mean i just got a really powerful CPU cooler in (Tuniq tower) so of course now that CPU temps arent holding me back the MB starts!!!!!!! Anyone know what could be the problem? Is this temp even something to worry about?
By the way the MB idles at only 27/28C... ???????????

It's fine for a motherboard underload. The nForce4 has always been a little warm.

do you mean the chipset temp is 52 or the ambient temp?
if its the ambient temp and its that hot, then the sensor could be by something putting out some heat, in which case dont worry cause all the other temps are fine and your sensor isnt giving an accurate reading for the whole case. however, reach your hand inside your case while your computer is at full load, you will be able to feel if the inside of the case is that warm or not, trust me. if it is the actual ambient temperature, then you need to get some more airflow through the case (sometimes ppl dont realize they have a lot of intake and little exhaust). if its the chipset, its just like what Dazz said, the chipset runs a little warm at full load. |

Em well im using speedfan and it just says 'Mainboard: 52C'. I guess thats the chipset then. NB hits 23 max.
'Local' (which i guess is ambient) reads 35C max load. (30 load after the recent fan addition) CPU (core) never goes over 43C at load. Yeah and while running, the instide of the case feels very cool tbh. Constant breeze all around... Weird.. I also just put in an 80mm fan right at the bottom of the case facing directly up at the motherboard heatpipe and didnt change a thing... So I can continue OCing without the need to worry about this temp yeah? More opinions would be useful also.

That load temp is fine. You only need to worry when it's at <70 under load.

When your southbridge starts hitting 90C on load like my first 680i board did, then you can get nervous.

I have just ordered an ASUS P5N32-E SLi i wonder what the temps are like for that board, i heard the 680i's get real warm then again they use something like 90w which is insaine for a motherboard.

All 680i's run hot. It's just the way the chipset is. There won't be much difference between the Asus, eVGA or BFG.

Alright guys my chipset is now hitting 55C... I know it's not considered dangerous but what concerns me is that is increasing more and more... It used to reach only 47C max! Also I even placed a 90mm fan inside at the bottom of the case pointing (at angle) up towards the motherboard and the temps did not twitch!!!!! This only started happening after i installed my Tuniq Tower (and when i OCed more)... Do you think it could be something to do with, or be the cause of this chipset temp rise!? My guess is restricted airflow...
