Default F.E.A.R. 360 question

I never got myself to finish this game on the PC (3rd mission in or so) and wondering if this is worth getting on the 360? I still have xmas gift card money left, so I wouldn't be buying it with my money.

If you already own it on the PC then why waste your gift card money on the 360 version?

Exactly. The "bonus missions" on the 360 version are hardly worth mentioning. Use your gift card money to buy the PC expansion if you want a F.E.A.R. fix.

I had issues getting into it and wanting to play it for very long. I also spent too much time trying to get it configured just right so it was playable, and still have as much goodies turned on that I could. This last bit is why I lean to getting again, just drop it in and play.

You'll still get some slowdowns on the 360 version running at 1366x768. It's not enough to be really annoying, but you still notice them.

The 360 version has superior lighting, aside from that, it's the exact same game. If you already own it on PC, I suggest sticking with that version. Many reviewers agreed that the control scheme for the 360 port was quite frustrating.

PC's have the good ol' tride and true keyboard and mouse and of course, sharper textures. Use the gift card on Lost Planet =)

I disagree there, I didn't think the controls were bad at all. Certainly not the worst I've ever experienced on a console.

Try the demo so you can get an idea if you insist on it.

I went back and played it on my PC, and I find myself missing my controller. Yeah sure in theory I could practice and get good with the keyboard and mouse, but some of the controls just felt odd.

It also didn't help that every now and then it would feel like my frames would hiccup here and there. I suppose I could turn stuff down, but what would the fun in that be?

I played FEAR all the way through on the PC. I still bought it for my X360 and I'm glad I did.

1. It runs smoother and has way more predictable framerate. This suprised me a lot.

2. Looks way better on my 30" widescreen than it did on my 19" 4:3 monitor.
A lot more immersive.

3. Sounds way better with the surround sound I've got hooked up to the X360.

4. I like the controls. They feel good and are just as accurate as keyboard and mouse with a lot of practice. I mean I've been using keyboard and mouse since the first Quake so I'm obviously a little better with it.

The only negatives for me were a lot of the suprises are gone. There have been a few battles that I remember as being a lot more challenging because I didnt know they were coming.

Overall I'm enjoying the game more on the 360 then I did on the PC.

I thought the 360 of FEAR was pretty good. It looked great, ran smooth and the controls were pretty good.

However I still prefer my PC, I like my keyboard and mouse. I have a 22" widescreen monitor and the 8800GTX and my previous 7900GTs helped keep the framerate slightly smoother with more detail than the 360 version.
