Default Re: Oblivion Fans - Qarl's Texture Pack III out!

Question guys... I just got back into Oblivion... downloaded the Knights of the Nine (legally... from elderscrolls.com)... and it won't install... already installed to 1.1.511 or whatever the crap, but it gives me an error on install... does anybody know why this is? Maybe because I am in Vista? I don't enjoy paying 10 bucks for nothing .

Installed the texture pack & it' sweet as honey.

The performance in certain areas took a hit, but nothing that hampers game play.

There have been many problems with the downloadable content. Your best bet is to go to the Elderscrolls.com forums and ask in their Oblivion support section.

What worked for me with the previous downloadable content was to boot into safe mode with networking and then run the installer that way. For some reason none of the other methods work for me.

I am getting 35-60FPS with 8800GTX at 1920x1200, CSAA 8x, AF 16x, HDR.
Memory usage, with 4096 LOD and few other mods, is above 700MB video RAM...

Screenshots (including DarkUI, 4096 LOD, Qarl III, etc.):

Three words, Normal Mapped LOD. I think I might post my mod list later today. By the by anyone know a better way than fraps to take screenshots in Vista? I'm limited to 1600x1200 with shots in fraps but play at 2048x1536, it looks so much better but until we get AA+HDR in vista oblivion.

WOAH! The hillside on the other side of the lake looks GREAT. Is that from the angle the sunlight is hitting it? What's that same spot look like at mid day or night?

Yeah those shadows will change as the sun rises, they just change with the angle of the light. 4096 Normals.

Damn, what does that do to performance?

The normal maps already use a huge amount of memory. Most mods I've seen actually just lower the resolution on them and get rid of compression so they are smoother looking.

That looks amazing, but it has to kill performance.
