The Wii is selling well because it is cheap fun. The PS3 is selling, but not as well being it costs a LOT more and the titles are just not out there yet. Give it time. The 360 wasn't exactly showered in launch titles either, and it ended up selling over 10 mil units.
You are absolutely right. The Wii is in a class above a system like the PS3.

I can afford to buy all three systems like it's nothing. I'm not buying a PS3 not becasue of the money, but literally because it would be a waste of 1hr of my life to walk down to best buy and walk back to my place. I could care less about the $600. The PS3 isn't even worth 1hr of my time. When it is (and in the future with new games it very well may be), I'll walk down to best buy and pick one up.

I love how the Sony fanboy's claim the Wii's sole success revolves around the $250 price tag. News flash. On Wii launch, most of the people I waited in line with (including myself) spent around $600 on the Wii + games + accessories so it isn't just about the money. The PS3 is a pile of crap, and the Wii is uber. That's why the Wii is outselling the PS3 4:1.

The 360 on the other hand is a solid system, and is selling well (not as well as the Wii, but still selling well none the less).

So were the Xbox and Gamecube pieces of crap while the PS2 was uber since it sold at an even better ratio than the Wii is selling to the PS3? Hell, the PS2 is STILL outselling the Wii, Xbox360, and PS3; does that mean it's a superior console to all of them?

Why would the cheaper, less capable system be in a class above a higher priced but more capable system?

Don't argue with a blatant fanboy who can't even handle criticism of a ridiculous premise such as: Graphics don't matter.

Apparently any criticism of that premise is criticism of his favorite system. This guy clearly doesn't know the meaning of mature discussion, which leads me to believe that he's an adolescent punk or one with a similar mindset.

It's only a rumor, but this appears to be the reason why the backward compatibility on the Xbox 360 is so poor. Basically, it is done through rewriting portions of the code to avoid emulating the harware to the point it would require acquiring license from NVidia. That's also why backward compatibility is only available with the hard disk because all the "patched" code is stored in a dedicated partition (and the original Xbox used the HD for caching so it wouldn't work with "cores" anyway)

It's a two-way street, bucko. The PS3 musketeers around here can't handle criticism of their favorite system either. The PS3 is overpriced plain and simple. The only argument that you hear over and over is, "Just you wait! The best stuff is right around the corner!" People buy consoles because they want to play games now. The Wii has a better catalog right now, and that's what the market is showing it wants. You can't deny just how successful this system is. Sony got caught with its pants around its ankles, and it's stinging them.

I really find it amusing that people just assume the PS3 will dominate again because Sony had such a strong market position last gen. As I recall, something similar happened to Nintendo not too long ago when no one thought they could possibly be overtaken because they were just too big and I think we see how that turned out.

The PS3 is overpriced as a game console but a bargain if you make use of its Blu-Ray functions. I have owned my 360 for almost a year now and the HD-DVD drive for it when it launched. While there is hardly any games out for it right now outside of Resistance, there are a lot more movies I want on the BD format now and in the near future than will be out on HD-DVD. In fact, in the two weeks I have owned my PS3 I now own twice as many BD movies than HD-DVD titles.

People at work ask me about a PS3 and I tell them if they are interested in only gaming then wait a few months to buy one when more games are out or buy a 360 if they don't already have one. If they plan on making use of a HDTV for movie watching then the PS3 is a great BD player with the added bonus of being able to play games.

As for the Wii I never see any available and until something that is a top-notch title that is Wii-only, like the next Metroid Prime, I will wait to get one. I bought the new Zelda for my Gamecube for now. Also, the interactive controller for the Wii is a nice innovation but I honestly prefer less effort to play my games after a long day at work. I go to the gym 5-6 days a week so I don't need the extra exercise the Wii provides.

Sheesh, I dunno.... I could rent a gaming hooker for 600 and finish the game whilst getting my p3n15 sucked off and still have enough cash left over to buy a huge stream of console games.
