AS far as I know the 360 sends out Standard def sound out through the RCA jacks on the connection, never anything higher.
The first Toshiba stand-alone player had 5.1 analog outputs, which put out the new HD sound formats (not downconverted versions).

5.1 means there was 5 channels of sound, but those were NOT HD inputs, just 5.1. You could get the 5.1 signal from one RCA like cable, but it suffered from noise and it was a lossy input method.

The only way you will get the new HD codecs out of any device is with optical at MINIMUM. You can get sound other ways, but it IS NOT TureHD sound. That has been what people in the thread have been saying from the start, but you didn't listen.

Lets end all this crap. TrueHD + Xbox360 HD-DVD= NOT GONNA HAPPEN! The whole point of using a codec like TrueHD is to get lossless digital audio. Once that TrueHD audio signal gets recompressed and downsampled by the 360 it's not TrueHD anymore. So your initial question is "Does anybody know if the 360 HD-DVD drive does TrueHD 2.0 through the 360's analog stereo output." The answer is NO! Now run along and go bug the sh!t out of someone else. It's obvious that you're company is not wanted around here anymore.

OK not trying to be rude but you are wrong. There are at least 4 ways to get multi-channel sound from a device: HDMI, optical, coaxial, and 5.1 analog output which consist of a sincle rca connection for each channel of audio.
