Default 6800GT On My Power Supply?

Do you guys think this PCI-E nVidia Card will work on my Dell with a 305W power supply?

Right now the system is running:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1.8GHz
2 GB's of DDR2 RAM
nVidia 6600GT PCI-E
2x 500GB Seagate S-ATA drives
PCI Silicon Image 0,1 RAID Controller (S-ATA)
Sony CDRW/DVD ROM (S-ATA drive)
Onboard audio / Broadcom Gigabit 10/100/1000 NIC

Can I replace the 6600GT with a 6800GT? If not, can you recommend a card that was handle a little more?

My specs are in my signature below. The 6800GT is running fine on a 380Watt TruePower power supply. Its maximum output is 18amps on the 12volt rail.

What you have to find out is the maximum amperage for your power supply's 12volt rail. The amperage should be marked on the power supply itself underneath a column that says "+12v"

The minimum power requirement for the 6800GT is usually 300W. So, I think you should be ok. But, just to be sure, take a look at the amperage stats on your powersupply.

edit - oh, and to answer your second question, the 6800GT should be a nice upgrade. A better deal would probably be the 7600GT, or even a 7900gs. What price were you offered for the 6800GT?

It will run just fine. Dell PSU's are pretty decent. I have an optiplex GX745 at work with the following:
C2D E6600 2.4GHZ
2GB DDR2
80GB HD
CD-Rom
DVD+RW

and I put my 6800GT in there, and haven't had any problems. The extra HD is a little more, but shouldn't cause any issues. If you figure there is probably a little extra power draw on my processor, and the extra cd drive, it probably evens out that other HD.

I'm actually guessing you can get a 7600GS in there. I thought about getting one, but since I had extra 6800's floating around, that made more sense.

EDIT: NVM, Apparently a 7600GS ~ 6600GT, so that 6800GT will be faster.

Did some more searching, the 7600GT is faster than a 6800GT, and uses less power. (It doesn't even require the extra power connector.) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...NE&N=0&Ntk=all
You can get one for $90 - 100 after MIR.

Benchies are here to give you a better idea in that price range: http://xtreview.com/review140.htm

Its hard to find benchmarks for that range of cards, so that one should help out a lot.
