Ratchet and Clank PS3 in Next Month's EGM

Insomniac to reveal their next PS3 game soon.
By Patrick Klepek, 02/06/2007

With Resistance: Fall of Man done -- but new content next month, as another territory joins the Chimera fight, wouldn't shock us -- Insomniac Games has turned their teasing attention to the next Ratchet & Clank game, which will fall, as per usual with the franchise, exclusively on PlayStation 3. But, when can we have a look at it? Sooner than you think, actually; on the EGM Live!* podcast, the crew confirmed they'd have the next-generation sequel in their pages next month.

And not just a lame teaser, either. Screens. Details. The whole deal, man. Check back for more soon, but in the meantime, Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters ships on PSP next week.

Heres some images/video from the old GDC 06 (meaning march 06) demo:

Yeah I enjoyed the series, you would think they are all out pure kid games but they can be serious and have adult undertones at times. I liked jak and daxter more actually, but R&C was quite fun as well.

Agreed. I played Jak 1 and had a blast. Never got to play the sequels but I think I'll buy em for my sister and play through them whenever I get the chance.

Sounds like a plan. Its kind of interesting looking at the evolution of the games as the sequels go on, you can really tell the developers have learned more and more about the hardware improving the graphics each go around.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this. Ratchet and Clank was one of my favorite series on the PS2, and I'm really excited to see what a next gen version of it will be like. Especially since Insomniac already has quite a bit of experience with the PS3.

But the pictures are still a ways off, so I guess right now there isn't much reason for anticipation yet.

After playing Resistance and starting the Rachet series it's amazing how diverse Insomniac is.

Do they work on one at a time or have separate teams?

Actually I believe they co-existed, developing both games at once. But of course Resistance was the major focus (and had the larger team) because it was coming out first, but soon as the game finished the whole team went over to R&C development. They are based on the same engine IIRC.

They don't have a huge team that splits off into different projects, rather they have majority of their staff work on a single project while acouple others work on some aspects of the other project. It might be different now with the PS3 but that how it was with the PS2 I believed, main reason why you wouldn't see them flood the market with titles like other developers.
