I use satellite because there is no other option out here. Even our phone lines are crappy and get only around 26Kbps due to the noise on the lines. If you go the multilink route, make sure your phone lines are decent so that you can get the 85-95 Kbps throughput.

Ah rural living - nice and quiet but man the intarweb sux!

Edit: If you want to be a balla, you can get a T1 or even a fractional T1 for only a few hundred a month!
Vandalous is exactly right. If your PSTN lines are only throwing 26Kbps then multilink is worthless and you'll need to look at ISDN or the other options.

We've got DSL out in the sticks now and I love it.

Yeah, call your telco company and tell 'em you want 128K ISDN for data. Ask them if they ISP for it as well.

looks like, in my area, its either cell internet or satelite. no isdn, im NOT using dial up and thast all i have found. so with that in mind..

would satelite work okay for guild wars? i know about the FAP, but playing guild wars an hour every other day or so bite into that very much? and would cell internet even be useful for guild wars?

You have two choices, latency or bandwidth/speed. Pick one

Cellular = Lower latency, less bandwidth, likely more reliable, no FAP (AFAIK Verizon is 5GB/month).
Satellite = Very high latency, high bandwidth, less reliable, FAP.

Also, AFAIK Verizon's AUP doesn't allow gaming/streaming so you may need to look at Sprint.

Before you make a move be sure to research both of them.

http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/f...eptableuse.jsp is their AUP but it looks like it's been updated since I last looked. Prior to that there was a 5GB/mo transfer limit as well as no streaming/gaming.
