Go with Sprint, I'm finding under their current pricing AUP restrictions for gaming, streaming media, RSS, etc etc etc.

You won't hit FAP for gaming except for the big updates that they occasionally send. There are some good programs out there that help monitor FAP usage on your rig and network. If you go satellite, I can help you with that.

I'm gonna try some GW a little bit later and see how it plays since I've upgraded my HN account and moved to the 7000S. You can forget about any FPS or XBox Live or anything like that via satellite though.

I was DW4000 when I was on DirecWAY, I remember when the DW6000's came out (garbage) and they had all kinds of issues with rate limitations and speed throttling. I used to get about 6Mbit at times when I was using threaded download managers.

yeah, do some guild wars and let me know how it runs. im gonna try verison tonight with my work phone, since sprint doesnt have service out here. nextel does, but no sprint. and now im looking into either wild blue or hughesnet. anyone know if either one is better? looks like hughes costs a lttle more but has lower ping times.

well, verizon is out. doesnt work under windows vista. so, im gonna setup hughnesnet this morning. wild blue ises software on the PC as part of its system, and thats something i dont like. and hughesnet seems, from reradin online, to be more reliable for some light online gaming.

anyone know if i'll be able to hook to box from hughes to a wireless router for my wii and pc?

okay, so with wild blue, the FAP is different that hughes, but i dont think i'll hit the FAP with the occasional Guild wars. heres the thing..

Wild Blue = $199 to install and $50 a month for 512K down, 128K up.

Hughesnet = Under the current promotion - 0 to install, and $99 a month for 700K down, 128K up.

what do you guys think?

well, from what i understand, the wild blue pings are in the 1600 ms range. hughesmet is in the 700ms to 1200ms range, which is fine for guild wars.

You could always get an EVDO router like this one:

Price is around $250. For that much though I'd just build a Linux router out of an old laptop with PCMCIA.

One thing I forgot to mention, VPN over satellite is horrible, it's better to use dial-up. SSL/SSH sessions over satellite are horrible too.

i wont be VPN'ing at all. but ssh and ssl.. dont know how much thatll come up. which satelite service did you say you had? did you try out guild wars over the weekend?
