Thanks for the info, but this sucks. I am going to blow torch my PC.
this will do it for you

ATTRIB -R -S -A -H "C:\Windows.old\Users\NeKroSoft13\AppData\Roaming\ SecuROM\UserData\*"

DEL "C:\Windows.old\Users\NeKroSoft13\AppData\Roaming\ SecuROM\UserData\*"

just change the path to correct place

Unlocker 1.9.0 also does the trick. Right click on the Windows.Old folder, choose Unlocker, choose Delete option and the folder is gone.

You brought up a 3 year old thread to post this?

What does it matter how old the thread is (and it's 2 years not 3)? It's information. I searched for this problem recently and saw this link. You think no one has come across this problem in two years (Installing Windows 7 also produces this issue)? For example, 2 years ago Unlocker could not do this.

There's a lot of useful info in this thread. And DD, you have to admire the fact that he revived an old thread as opposed to making a new one.

I searched the SecuRom site just out of curiousity to see if this issue was noted anywhere. It wasn't. I then emailed them about the issue and about them not mentioning or addressing it on their site. I got a reply back from them basically stating that no one should do a Windows 7 install with the option to create a Windows.old folder. Problem solved! Jeez. Then they provided a link for the SecuRom removal tool that is not at all the solution to this issue as it will nuke all active SecuRom files as well. It was about the response I was expecting but I had to give it a shot anyway.

Actually I think there is a format option there somewhere which would wipe the drive clean and not import any settings. Anyway, the guys at SecuRom came off to me as arrogant and not understanding the issue.
