Hi everybody! I've got too a geforce go 6150, but with opensuse 10.2, kernel 2.6.18.2-34-default.. I downloaded RPM's drivers with yast, installed, but my X server crashed (Screen found, but ...)! uninstalled them, I used the "hard way", with the official .sh script, and drivers installed correctly. But, till now, compiz doesn't work... I looked in the list of current supported hardware and I didn't found my geforce...what can I do? do nVidia ever build drivers for me? when?
Thanks
Davide

Your GPU is fully supported in 1.0-9746.

I actually have the exact same issue and think its a driver bug. this does not happen with my geforce 7600GT on my desktop.

"Your graphic card is not in XGL's database"
and
>>
Your graphics card is not known to be supported by Xgl, and it is not currently configured for 3D acceleration. Xgl cannot be enabled. However, if 3D acceleration can be enabled on this card, then it might be possible to run Xgl.

You might be able to fix this using the SaX2 configuration tool. Press the button below if you'd like to try running SaX2.
<<

That's all...and compiz doesn't run.. SaX2 doesn't anything, it's all OK & 3D support is activated and it's impossible to turn it off.

I'm not aware of any reason why any GPU that is supported by 1.0-9746 wouldn't work with XGL. I think you need to query SuSE about how they've made this determination.

Ok boys I did it.

1. XGL doesn't understand that 3D support is activated (with official nvidia drivers)

BUT

2. if you modify the DISPLAYMANAGER_XSERVER variable changing it (for me, from Xorg) to Xgl, rebooting the system (only CTRL+ALT+DEL doesn't work, you know..), you'll finally get your windows moving.

Achtung. On my distro, opensuse 10.2, you can do it with yast-system-sysconfig editor-display-ecc...
Achtung2. my XGL controller always want you disable xgl..simply ignore it..

Thanks everybody...
now I try to use my earphones with
00:10.1 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP51 High Definition Audio (rev a2)
which doesn't seems to be supported...

You can find here! http://xopen.dyndns.org/
The alsa-drivers alsa-lib and alsa-utils and one patch to turn on your headphones!

But my main problem is that i have one HP DV 2120us...

I am using Mandriva 2007 32 Bits
Kernel version: 2.6.17-5mdv
nVidia driver: 1.0-9755

... with the default nvidia driver (the Mandriva install default driver) i have workin only the X + XGL (compiz) but the text mode is not working, i cant read nothing there the screen has a lot of lines.

Then i just updated the nVidia driver... downloaded from www.nvidia.com.
The installation was completed without errors...
I can use the nvidia module as well in my xorg.conf...

Now i have the X and the Text Mode working without problem... but when I turn on my XGL i got black cube and whites windows... =(

The xgl can not render the texture i think...

So what should I do?

Is it a XGL problem?

Thanks
