I don't think it's worth the money for me to upgrade, but I am building My sister a conroe right now (my choice of processor). The first intel I've built since My mothers old (retired) celeron 400. since then it's been AMD all the way. I'll probably do another video upgrade before a platform change. I'm not even wasting My money on Vista yet.

Yea I upgraded in August. I went from an Athlon XP-M 2500+ (overclocked) to a E6400. It was worth it I think.

Socket 939 X2 4600+'s and 4800+ are getting rarer and rarer. Some people are now asking direct trades such as a 20" widescreen LCD or a Wii.

I switched from a P4 3.2 Ghz to a Conroe e6600 last Christmas. Quite a difference, 3DMark06 gained +6000 marks

Everyone I've talked to in person or online claims the X6800 out of the box at stock speeds will crush even my Intel Pentium D Extreme Edition 965 3.73GHz Dual Core processor which is overclocked to 4.21GHz If this is true, then I'm in for a real performance gain! Any comments?

I won't switch for another few months. Still got a single core AMD.

Sweet! All the parts are setting on my desk looking at me. All I'm waiting to do now is to order a new Koolance CPU-330 block. I can't wait to sell my old parts. Hell, I made $625.00 on my older used 4GB of Corsair DDR2 memory on ebay hahahaha....... I took the money and upgraded to the new CORSAIR Dominator 4GB (4 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel I even got rebates on all the ram $80.00 I broke even and came out of the deal with even better faster memory. Anyway, it sure will be nice to get this upgrade project started soon.

I plan to upgrade to Conroe dual core at some point this year. My X2 4800+ is still fast, but it will not be able to keep the 8800GTX happy all year. I'm thinking its smarter to upgrade to Intel dual core rather than add a second 8800GTX.

I switched from a X2 4400+ @ 2.66GHz to a E4300 @ 3.2GHz can do 3.4GHz but not statble i am seemed to of been unlucky as it doesn't like the FSB increased too much won't boot at all with 1600MHz So my FSB seems to be keeping me back. Tried on both a ASUS P5N32-E & ABIT IN9 MAX WiFi. I got the E4300 as a temp processor for decently priced quad cores and also waiting for them to fix the FSB issue with Quads too.
