Has MS passed the savings of the X360 over to the consumer? They have changed the drives in the system what 3 times now, and the price remains the same. Hell MS is claiming to be making a profit from the unit now, why can't Sony try to lower the internal cost of the unit?

No one knowns how limited the PS3s backwards compatibility will be, for all we know it could be only rare titles that are affected. Guess I atleast should be glad that I purchased one of the original units, who knows how quickly we will be seeing this revision spread to other markets.

The pics I mentioned.

Looking at these pics, it seems pretty clear to me that the PS3 was designed to be part of an entertainment center. Just from the black that matches a lot of A/V equipment to the reduction in cable clutter/components/power-bricks, etc. It's already hard enough dealing with all the cables and pieces of A/V equipment in an A/V system without the addition of lots of thick cables, power bricks, extra pieces, etc.

I don't know, I guess I like their design choices along with the fact that the PS3 is very quiet. While, I realize not everyone cares about these type issues, these type things are a big plus for some.

In my case, I have the added a/v cable since my HD monitor only accepts DVI. Some, I'm using a HDMI-to-DVI cable for video and the a/v cable for the audio. So, I have the cables in the pic to deal with the PS3.

Yeah Yeah I know we have acouple members here saying that the stores in their area hav piles of them collecting dust, guess what? Over here its empty, all my Wal-Marts, EBs, Gamestops and Best Buys are empty. None have any PS3s or Wiis, I would see one or two every now and then.
lol the PS3 is selling 50K short of a system that has already been out for a year and a half? Basically what you are saying is that the PS3 is in a DISTANT 3rd place.

Oh, the USB cable for recharging and resyncing? True, I did forget that and I also forgot the cable for charging the x360 controller (although, I only use the rechargeable battery on one of them -- just use regular batteries on the other).

Whats also interesting to me is the PS3 seems more suited for the features you find on the 360 and XBox Live. 360 to me should have been what the PS3 is design wise. Also Microsoft in my view designed the system esthetically more to the Japanese taste and I don't think it blends at all in a entertainment center with other high quality equipment around.

From some of the rumors, it sounds like MS is coming out with a revision that might address some of that. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Edit: Removed the below from the above comment since I was kind of agreeing without really knowing anything about the Japanese tastes or market. "Yeah, I kinda agree. "

could availability be an issue? I know I cant find one here to save my life. Try turning the blinders off once in awhile.

Please, the availability issue is getting OLD. Every media outlet in the country is reporting that the PS3 is sitting on the shelves (while the Wii is flying right off).

while finding a PS3 is not as easy as finding a 360, they are a heck a lot easier to find than the Wii. Go ahead, try to prove me wrong and see what the Wii to PS3 availability ratio is.

this is a smile, and nod moment....

I STILL cant find a PS3 in any store I go to in the city. Its great you love your system so much but please, going overboard with stupid statements makes you look completely ignorant.

this is from a 360 owner, and adult not a 13 yr old console fanboy.

I know a few people who work retail in game stores in my area. While I cannot speak for FutureShop or ElectronicsBoutique, most of the other outlets have reduced their PS3 orders. They have decided that they don't sell particularly well and have no qualms leaving the slow sales to other places. They do however carry PS3 games.
So in many places you will not find PS3s in stock, because for a $12.00 profit on the system it does not make retail sense to hold shelf space for them. The games and the controllers, etc have a higher markup.
