It's got nice graphics, and superb physics. And you can imagine it's really nice with a wheel and has the really nice force feedback effects.

There's also some nice mods for Grand Prix 4 but most people don't have that game.
Does Rfactor offer the assistance that F1 does? I will give it a go if it does but the only reason im liking F1 is because the learning curve can be eased.

Yep, same thing happened here. The first turn at Monza, I caused a huge pileup. I also have a habit of knocking off other racer's front tires. I think I'm going to hook up my wheel, FFb or not it's gotta be easier to control.

What type of assistance are you talking about? You get enable break help, steering help, enable traction control and anti-lock brakes, spin control and you can adjust the speed/intelligence of the AI cars (from 85% - 125% IIRC). There might be a few that Im missing here but those that I mentioned usually come in all games that have the ISI2 engine.

Let me know how that goes. I've come in last every time so far without any of the driving aids on.

Heh, one thing about not using the driving aids, it makes me appreciate a lot of the nice graphical touches. I spent a lot of time in the dirt and grass and it's pretty cool to see little pieces of grass (or dirt) on the tires when going through those.

Yea it offers those aids. The only difficulty you'll have is downloading the mod and running its installer and you go from there.

I have not played it with anything other than a wheel so I'm not sure how it would feel. I would probably recommend a gamepad at the very least over using keyboard. I used to play realistic F1 games with keyboard long ago however (Grand Prix 1, 2, 3, F1 2000) and I did ok.

I dont know if its just me but I could not catch on to this game. Raced about 3 times total, first two times placed 10th, then last time placed first and that was all for me. I got into it as much as I got into MotoGP for xbox360, enjoyed it the first time then just got bored of it. Dunno guess Im more of a PGR guy

But if it were available for a console, it would be the worst racing game of all time, right?

I'm pretty sure rFactor with the CDTP F1 mod is more realistic than any console racer out there with the full physics on and only like traction control. On the other hand, you pretty much need a wheel for that.

See im not a hardcore racing fan.. actually I hate most racing games. Very few ever grab me, one being the GT Series and the other being the early NFS games.

please , .... several mod make rFActor the most incredible car simulation.
some other are crappy too ...

that fact is , no one console car sim could reach the level of fidelity of these best rfactor mods!
