Question Removing a heatsink from a GeForce4 Ti?

I am replacing my Video card's HSF, and i cannot get the heatsink off. I removed both pins, and the only thing holding the thing on is the Thermal Interface material. I've tried pulling it off, but i don't want to wreck the core..............Got any ideas?? oh yeah.......i don't have a razor blade.

ok this is kinda risky.. but i heard this before... put the card in a antstatic bag... get a SEALED FREEZER SAFE BAG put the antistatic bag, and the card inside the sealed freezer bag... leave it in the freezer overnight... when you check it the next morning, the thermal adhesive should be brittle, and you should be able to break the heatsink free...

i havent tried this myself, just letting you know i have heard this works from more than one place... maybe someone can confirm this before you go out and try something like this...

Thanks, I put the card in the freezer for 5 min, then stuck a plastic card under the Heatsink, and it popped right off.

Wow, that's care and planning. Personally, I twisted the fan off my Ti4600 when I discovered that the pins weren't the only thing holding it on. No apparent core damage.

EDIT:
I had an overheating Ti4600 to play with and discovered that the Zalman ZM80a is about 15MHz/800 3dMarks better than the stock fansink, but an AMD 1600 CPU fan+sink was king, allowing a change from 9,200->10,103 3DMarks at the same clock speed! I never suspected that a cooler GPU would score higher at the same clock speed.
