Was this bug report generated while X was hung?
Have you verified that you're using the latest motherboard BIOS?

Hi Netllama

I have generated this bug report when X was running... before it eventually froze. after freezing ctl+alt+f1-f7 do not work, nothing works actually.
I am using the latest motherboard bios also, but I will check once again if any updates are available.

Regards
Chaitanya

I get almost this exact problem and I don't have an ATI chipset motherboard. My motherboard is an Asus M8N-E, which I believe is an nForce 4 chipset isn't it? or -5?

Doh.

GeForce 7300 GS problem is the last one I have to solve to get my compiz Linux desktop to the godlike state my home machine is.

Hi Netllama

My system is freezing, but not like before , this time I was playing songs in the background when I was working on a word doc. suddenly it froze, then I thought that this was the usual freeze, but the funny things was after a few seconds i was able to hear the song again and the mouse moved an inch and again it froze and this happened in quick succession before it eventually froze rock hard.
I think your fix is working and now it is freezing in a different way....
I wanted to reproduce this with 13 glxgears windows and dmesg tailed so that I can take a snap from digital camera, and i let it run for 3 hours, but no freeze.
This type of freeze is occuring very randomly... and it's behaviour is same each time it occurs.

Please help....

Regards
Chaitanya

akondichaitanya,
This is a different issue, I'd suggest starting a new thread with a bug report and reproduction details.

Interesting. Although I don't have as regular lockups with the new driver, the system still freezes up randomly, whether it's just the login manager running or in an actual session.
I'm attaching my newest bugreport.log

I tried the 100.14.11 driver :
  • Run a first glxgears and move it
  • Run a second glxgears and move it
  • Run a third glxgears
  • Move the third glxgears -> freeze
As usual, no more ctrl+alt+backspace nor ctrl+alt+F1-F7

I see the same thing on my machine with version 100.14.11:

Nvidia GeForce 7300 LE Graphics Card

ASUS P5NSLI (pdf manual):
- North Bridge: NVIDIA C19 SLI
- South Bridge: NVIDIA MCP 51

Details of my testing can be found in this thread:

and in this Livna bug report:
