Default shutdown 9775 garbled

When I shutdown my machine, the text display is messed up.
It seems like lines are not being drawn low enough, the line above overlays it.
This started with the 9775 driver and it only happens with the text during shutdown (and only if I shutdown from X).
It is a minor, minor problem.

I can second this, although it has been happening since the 8xxx-Series with my computer.

I have an LG M1Pro (M1-JDGFG) which boasts a GeForce Go 7400.

It happens during shutdown but I had an idea.
I did `startx -- -logverbose 6` and then control-alt-backspace to quit X and the console was messed up, yay.
I ran `nvidia-bug-report.sh` and here is the log.

The console is messed up even though I am in KDE.
I could screen capture it if there is a console program.

One thing to note is that I use a non-typical console.
My kernel line is:
kernel /gentoo/bzImage root=/dev/sda3 vga=6

It works without the vga=6, I like a smaller console though. :-(

this is an ooooold bug. i believe it stretches back two or three driver-releases, at least.

Does this problem persist if your kernel does not have any vesa console framebuffer support (and you remove vga=6 from your GRUB configuration)?

I'm afraid that this is expected behavior and is not considered to be a driver bug. Framebuffer console graphics are not currently a supported configuration with the NVIDIA driver.

No, this has never been a supported configuration.

How hard would it be for nvidia to make the framebuffer work?
