I've got stuttering in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
running vista home premium 32bit with 158.18

I also had to force AA off from the nvidia panel to actually get this to work.
It is not bad frame rates i got, but rather stuttering at random times.
I tried to set the affinity to either 1 or 2 but that did not work.

Settings:

Full dynamic lighting / quality settings: maximum / res: 1024x768

I am on a 8800GTS 640mb btw and am running version 1.0001

Any tips?

We all get stuttering. If you add -noprefetch to the target in your icon, it fixes some of it, but there are some places that stutter real bad (heading into bar through the back way)

Please, any folks using the my Float32 mod and have a G80 based card, view my post within the Float 32 thread as it may help with some of the difficulties associated with the mod and G80 cards.

1gig of memory isn't really enough for STALKER, the difference from 2gig to 4gig in STALKER is quite noticable.

2GB made it playable at 1600X1200 with full dynamic. Maybe another 2 gigs would make it run smoother. Of course, my CPU and graphics card are holding me back. Well...I'll wait on the next crop of DX10 cards.

Just out of curiousity, what do you guys consider 'playable' ?

It can't be under 80 fps to be playable right ? I hear in the 20's and people still claiming 'playable' ? That's crazy talk

Full dynamic with 1600 x 1200, i get about 65 to 150 fps with those settings which is barely playable, but not really..., triple that when without HDR so.... HDR is really NOT worth it with STALKER

Anyway, if you say playable, please mention frames cause i call bull****

I run with full dynamic at 1920x1200. I'll maintain 30-35 fps mostly, but on occasion I'll dip into the high 20's. It's noticeable to be sure, but not too bad.

I would love to see 45 or above constantly, but I like the eye-candy too much.

Finished today with one of the rich endings, I'm kinda pissed off. Luckily I have a quite a few saved games. Finished it on the highest difficulty setting and at times it was really tough, this game had some of the best AI I've seen.

Great game 9/10.

Playable for me is anything over 30, but mine usually sits up around 70 - 90

I have been playing this game an hour after work and a few hours here and there on the weekend... I think I still have a way to go before I beat the game in any fashion A lot of fun though and great graphics. I find myself doing side missions just to keep the game going without beating it

Even after your done with the quests and Pripyat, you can still turn around and go back, just make a manuual save before finishing pripyat.

Things ..change, after you go back. Good fun.
