After 6 years of waiting, I'd rather play it in its finished, polished form. I don't have a whole lot of time to play games anyway, so I'd like it to be as good as it can be when I do.

EDIT: BTW, 1up gives it a 8\10:

and what guarantee do you have that there will be only one patch? what if the game never gonna be in fully finished state?

Then I'll never play it! ZOMG!

Seriously though, I won't have the game till early next week, if there isn't any mention of the patch by then I'll just play it. If the patch is scheduled to be released in the next week and a half, I'll just wait.

I'd just rather not let the experience get bogged down by a few bugs when waiting a few more days could improve things greatly.

I think I have it running now. I'm not sure what fixed it, trying to run it in a window temporarily or removing ffdshow. Those are the only two things I did differently. Anyway, I'm now able to run it full-screen and use 1920x1200.

Well, half an hour or so into it, and it's leaving me a bit cold.

What I don't like...
-VERY underpowered weapons
-npc's forget sidequests, I think someone else mentioned this
-Melee with the knife is to slow
- I would like to be able to use my mouse wheel to change weapons
-minimizing to desktop for no reason
-'crouch' and 'crouch lower'? Why not 'prone'?
-clunky sytem of searching bodies, and inventory. Needs to be accessed way too much.

I love the atmosphere, and the attention to detail is huge, but I literally got a headache after playing, like it was just out of focus enough to bother me.

I'll give it a chance, maybe it'll pick up a bit.

That is too cool. Finally!!

Yep lots of dynamic lights , shadows & heat haze from the toxic wastes .. in heavy firefights i get something around 22fps!

Actually, I need to turn on the SLI indicators to know for sure. At 1920x1200 and max settings (both the top-level choice and then changing all the sliders under advanced to their max settings including AA, although AA doesn't work but doesn't seem to matter if it's on or off), my performance is all over the place. At times it's in the 40s/50s and at others it'll drop down to 20/30s. This is just in the opening area and not fighting or anything, just walking around outside. I'll turn on the SLI indicators now to see if SLI is being used.
