Default Mission impossible, Syncmaster 226BW with nvidia driver

Ok guys and gals, I have been trying for over a week now, mostly using ideas looked up on this very forum but I cannot get my Samsung syncmaster 226BW 22" widescreen monitor working under linux using the official nvidia driver.

I am at my wits end. So I am humbly asking for your help.

I can run X Windows just fine using the open source "nv" driver. However, when I switch my xorg.conf file to use the "nvidia" driver my monitor goes blank as if it cannot display the resolution. (I am using the 9755 nvidia driver).

I've included my nvidia-bug-report.log created after a failed attempt to startx, if you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

Does adding the following option to the Device section of xorg.conf help?
Option "UseDisplayDevice" "DFP"

Whoa! That totally worked!

Netlama, I have seen and read a bunch of your posts on these forums helping people out. I sincerely appreciate your help here.

What I couldn't do in a week you did in about 10 seconds, lol.

For posterity here is my working xorg.conf file for anyone else with a Samsung Syncmaster 226BW 22" widescreen monitor.

Code:
# /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the /etc/X11/xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man /etc/X11/xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following command:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

Default Re: Mission impossible, Syncmaster 226BW with nvidia driver

I do have a similar problem with a SyncMaster205bw, but althought I am running 9742(beta) without problem with opensuse10.2 (x_64) and Xgl/compiz, I still cannot run the 9755 (or even 9746)

I tried your setting, but it did not help, so I am back to 9742 beta

my xorg.conf her under

Any idea appreciated,

regards

Default Re: Mission impossible, Syncmaster 226BW with nvidia driver

OK, I found the problem with My configuration

Nothing to do with screen resolution, but with the new driver install script.

I needed to manually add in the "Files" section the module path

ModulePath "/usr/X11R6/lib64/modules"
ModulePath "/usr/lib64/xorg/modules"

The order is important

cheers !!
