I've just set up beryl running directly on the nvidia drivers, and I'm pleased with how clean this is compared to the xgl+compiz hacks I was using before.
I've got a dell optiplex 270 with nVidia NV18 [GeForce4 MX 440 AGP 8x] (rev a2) The OS is suse 10.2 with the following video drivers and beryl components: x11-video-nvidia-1.0.9631-0.1 nvidia-gfx-kmp-default-1.0.9631_2.6.18.2_34-0.1 beryl-core-snapshot-r4338-2.3 beryl-manager-snapshot-r4338-2.3 beryl-vidcap-snapshot-r4338-2.2 beryl-settings-snapshot-r4338-3.3 beryl-plugins-snapshot-r4338-3.3 emerald-themes-snapshot-r4296-3.1 emerald-snapshot-r4338-2.3 Everything works well, 3D FPS games launch properly, all is good - except for google earth, apparently. I'm not sure if this is a beryl problem, a google earth problem, or some property of the nvidia drivers, but google earth is excruciatingly slow, marring an otherwise perfect desktop experience. The google earth is version 4.0.2735.0. Any pointers or whacks with a cluestick will be gratefully received, |

Is this problem only present when using the Composite extension?

I will post on the beryl forums as well. I'm just looking to fix the problem, not the blame. |
