I too find Vista more snapper than XP was and most of thegame I play still play fine. TBH I have not tried BF I do have it but played it for like two days last year and hated it. I think I have gone of FPS untill Crysis and UT our out.
I also agree that "Mid end systems should not be allowed to be upgraded to Vista" if you are going to be playing games. For work purposes mid systems are fine as long as they have a decent amount of RAM.

You don't need to give up XP to get DX 10. Dual boot like I do.
MCE 2005 actually has a better media center. I'll be using Vista for DX 10 games only until the first service pack is out, then I may change my mind. Of course the first service pack will allow AV companies to patch the kernel with their garbage so that will likely lead to a host of problems.

I removed Vista and went back to XP. Vista is too buggy and unstable for me to use it.

Lol, I am just the opposite
![]() The more I use Vista and it's power features, the more useless I think XP is ![]() Yah, its not perfect, but I can live with the "bugs". I just wish that friggin devs would step up to the plate and get some patches and drivers released already. |

And the performance is indeed faster. People trying to run all the features with lower spec systems are like the people who were trying to run Doom3 and Far Cry with gf3 level cards. It'll work, but it'll be slow. There is a reason requirements are listed for these items ![]() Either way, I didn't have to do anything to my system to enable Vista to run on it. And I haven't updated my system in a while. Wrt the benchmarks, Office 2007 ultimate runs snappier under Vista Ultimate than it does for me under XP Professional for all the apps. |

I have Vista in dual boot, but rarely use it. I just can't stand the ugly blurry fonts that Vista use.

I installed Vista Ultimate x64 just because my XP Pro went down one day (because of my own stupid error when editing registry; feel almost ashamed), and love it. It is 100% stable, exteremely fast, all apps are perfectly integrated, uses all 4GB of RAM (unlike XP 32b), runs 32-bit apps with no compatibility problems, and looks great as well.
If you use Vista, you will notice myryads of changes, not just looks. Many new applications, much better management, policy and performance center, great integrated search, etc. I also run x64 versions of Apache, PHP and MySQL for development, and they are much faster than their x86 releases. Overall, I am almost starting to love Microsoft (I use computers for 20 years as a SW developer, and never been before MSFT fan) :-) Software they do within last 2-3 years, like Windows Vista, Windows Live Messenger 8.1, Microsoft Office 2007 (compare that to obsolete OpenOffice and Thunderbird combo), Windows Desktop Search, Microsoft Expression Web (for web developers), Windows Media Player 11, Windows Mobile 6 devices, is absolutely high-end, very stable, (almost) bug-free and ahead of competition (consider how simple and obsolete Firefox looks compared to MSIE 7.0).

Thinking about it.
Not sure if I can find the right theme for it though. Unfortunately, that does make a difference for me ![]() |
