If you use Vista, you will notice myryads of changes, not just looks. Many new applications, much better management, policy and performance center, great integrated search, etc.

I also run x64 versions of Apache, PHP and MySQL for development, and they are much faster than their x86 releases.

Overall, I am almost starting to love Microsoft (I use computers for 20 years as a SW developer, and never been before MSFT fan) :-) Software they do within last 2-3 years, like Windows Vista, Windows Live Messenger 8.1, Microsoft Office 2007 (compare that to obsolete OpenOffice and Thunderbird combo), Windows Desktop Search, Microsoft Expression Web (for web developers), Windows Media Player 11, Windows Mobile 6 devices, is absolutely high-end, very stable, (almost) bug-free and ahead of competition (consider how simple and obsolete Firefox looks compared to MSIE 7.0).
Mind if I ask which drivers for your 8800 and which firewall app your using? Those are my only 2 (minor) gripes atm. I really don't have any major gripes thankfully.

really easy...

hit CTRL F12

go to the advanced tab, down to shortcuts at the bottom. In the keyboard setup click on opera standard and click edit.

then in the quick search(makes it easier) type F11..

there will be two sections that come up, one says application, the other browser... you just need the application one...

there is a line that says platform unix, f11 alt...

just delete the "plateform unix" part out of the line and click okay. Then click okay again...

you just set up the keyboard shortcut...

now all you have to do is hit ALT F11 and you can toggle that menu on and off as you please

I really like opera, it isn't as bloated as FireFox, to me its more secure and it is alot faster I love the smooth scrolling and wand operations as well. I also like that you can fully customize the browser

The add-ons seem better in Firefox though

The weather add-on is integrated into the shell rather than a floating widget.

If I could change a few more things in Opera, I'm all over it like a fat kid lusting after ice-cream.

-edit-

Menu enable/disable == yay

Thanks

I use Opera as my primary browser from version 6, years ago. For me, it is the best browser, the fastest one, and definitely the most productive.

I was comparing MSIE 7.0 to Firefox 2.0, and I think MSIE 7.0 is more advanced. Firefox competes against MSIE 6.0, but is obsolete now, it does not even have "new tab" button in default installation, is very slow, and you have to add 30+ extensions to make it a bit more functional. Also, extensions are fine, but browser + 30+ extensions are not tested as a complete set, thus it is not 100% stable (unlike Opera, which has everything in default download package, and is tested and speed-tuned as a complete package).

My Opera: http://podklady.interval.cz/hulan/1323/opera-full.png
My SlowFox: http://podklady.interval.cz/hulan/1323/firefox-full.png

Anyway, if Opera would not exist, I would use MSIE 7.0 now. It has better inferface than FF, and has plugins (mouse gestures, e.g.) as well.

Opera is, without a shadow of a doubt, the best browser on the market today. All of the years in development as a retial product payed off.

The ONLY reason that I don't use it as my primary browser is a lack of plugins. Specifically, OnlineBookMark manager and FlashGot. Until I find suitable replacements, which doesn't seem like it will be anytime soon, I'll have to stick with buggy ole Firefox (which is still infinitely better than IE6 or 7).

FlashGet can be integrated into Opera, see:

That's exactly what I'm looking for: Download All. (Really Download Selected, but I'll take Download All).

It doesn't seem to be working for me. I registered the DLL and made sure that mymenu.ini was pointing to the correct directories. What's weird is that when I right click and select Download All, nothing happens. I see the process start in Task Manager but it just doesn't do anything.

Not to raise old topics but this article came out this weekend: "Microsoft admitted what we have been saying all along, Vista, aka Windows Me Two (Me II), is a joke that no one wants. "

SOURCE = http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=39087

Now lets wait for the updated OS....
