Use a 20wmgx2. They're pretty damn good for the ps3, they're hdcp compliant. although for pc's it's max res is pretty damn limiting. and no wide color gamut, but great monitor, don't use it in bright conditions though.

I'm using one of mine with a Dell 24" LCD but I'm using a component cable. Using that, it won't let me use 1080p though (just 480p, 720p and 1080i).

I thought an HDMI to DVI converter bypassed HDCP. Wasn't that one possible fix to the screen flicker issue with the PS3+Westie 37W3, the second being unplug the HDMI and plug it back in.

It's already there. There's something called a Gamestation or Gameswtich acts as a swticher and a decoder: http://www.green-box.com.tw/products/view/id/104

If you can read Chinese take a look at this review, in which they tested the unit by hooking the PS3 to a Dell 2405:

It does decode HDCP. It allows you to play PS3 games on a none HDCP compliant monitor like the Dell 2405 @1080P.

Im currently using a X2VGA 2.0 for my PS3 and X360 while I wait for a new HDTV. I haven't had any issues playing Blu-Ray and Games on my monitor.

I personally see no need for an hdtv, I just think a pc lcd and an older tv (but w/ a/v inputs, stereo, no burn-in and not a zenith) for older consoles is necessary for me.

Revisiting a super nes or ps1 favorite is not good on any hdtv. It takes the fun out of the graphics and ultimately the game, >= it does on my hdtv.

I don't know what the **** to do when all of the tv's from the early/mid 90s are busted or have burn-in.

It all depends on the quality of the TV.
definitely.

i was playing on a 13" SD monitor a few weeks ago and the image looked as good as an HD picture. its probably just because the screen was so small that the pixels were tiny, makin it look crisp

Well, i saw the price.... 200 with taxes!? wtf! is really expensive... i would play with components to vga instead.
