This tweak fixed the 1-in-4 chance to drop out on back to menu screen. Great stuff!

Any side effects to this tweak? I'd like to fix Stalker but I don't want to risk having to reinstall windows.

Edit- I also looked through TweakVI which has tons of Vista tweaks but I cant find anything like this.

well this tweak is to the stalker exe it self, so far the people that did try it, had no bad side effects

Why is it that fixes like these are found in the communities and not by someone like MS? It drives me nuts that we have to point out all there flaws and then find the fixes...

Yup, messing with the .exe is not an issue but I was more thinking of this one: bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVA 3072. This is to windows itself, no?

As far as I can tell (I'm no dev/programmer) this addresses how much ram an app does use, versus how much it's able to use and where windows draws the line.

That's a very bad explanation , but like I said, this isn't my forte'.

Maybe someone who actually knows what this does can jump in??

Sounds good, thanks for the info. I've googled it a bit and all I've found asking for this are peeps with 3GB+ of physical ram. Is there a way to remove it later on or is everyone keeping it enabled even after the game/drivers are fixed?

Some one did post how to reset it..I know it's posted here somewhere but I can't find it!

Hopefully whoever posted it before will see this. I don't think there will be any harm though, at least I hope not.

confirmed: works great with Call of Duty 2, no more stuttering....even with vsync ON I notice smoother framerate and at 1920x1200 with 2xAA and all details on high or extra, I get a consistent and playable 35fps-60fps. All I did was the "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVA 3072" in the run prompt. Nice find. More testing to follow with my other games.

It seems to fix the crashing problem with BF2142 when loading levels.

I played for a few hours last night and not a single crash!
