Redeemed, honestly, I'm having problems believing that the 6000+ is going to be slashed almost $180. I'm not saying that they won't, I'm just saying that I can not see the logic behind doing that. I can see them cutting it to $275, but $200? Makes no sense to me. I'm hoping that they will, but I hoping even more that it's not just internet "backroom" chatter.

Well, when you stop and think that the Q6600 will be going for only $266... if AMD cut prices that drastically I'm sure it'd be incentive enough to spike more customer's interest. Thus giving them some sort of a lead on Intel. Besides, do a comparison of how drastic the price cut of the Q6600 will be- going for over $500 now and later it'll only be $266... and that is a couple hundred $ price cut atleast- and you are saying $180 for the 6000 is too extreme? Just sounds like competition to me.

Also to note, these price cuts aren't representative of the retail value. Newegg might get the 6000 for only $200/ea, while we get 'em for more like $250 each. I'd still be okay with that.

Yea...one looking at it from that perspective, I can see what you mean.

Right now, newegg has the chip for sale for $379, and you will get a 320GB WD HD for free! That's one heck of a deal!

I also just read on the reviews someone else saying that the price cut will take it down 50%.

Even if the 6000 was going for $275 come Monday, that'd seal the deal for me. Right now, at $379 is just a bit too steep for me. Shaving $100+ would convince me to make the purchase though.

Yea...but right now (with the free WD SATA 320 GB HD) that's like buying it for $275 and purchasing a hard drive!

Redeemed,
Here's a review on the Crosshair:

The Crosshair board, in my opinion, offers at least equal settings and options and might even get a nod above the DFI offering since their implementation makes it easy for BIOS beginners to access the standard BIOS options (like the four most common memory timings) without having to wade through the dozens of more complicated and less used settings.

Anyone that is looking to get an AM2 setup and try to overclock it will also like the various voltage settings and profile options, including the ability to move the memory voltage up to above 3.2v!!
I may have found my next board!

Just out of curiosity DOC,I've kinda of followed your threads on your upgrade path here. You just got the 5200 and it runs at 3.0 the 6000 runs at 3.0 so is it more of that you want a potential higher oc from the 6000 or hoping for one. Or is there something that is more attractive about the 6000. Just curious,I wish I had cash to upgrade but I think I'll wait for the next big jump from amd . BTW you REALLY do need a new monitor.

I'm hoping for a higher overclock. If I'm able to o/c my 5200 to the speeds of a 6000, I'm wanting to go further with the 6000.

Oh...I will be getting a Dell 2407 pretty soon!

Cool I kind of figured that was the case, good luck with that. enjoy your new monitor when you get it. I have the 24 ws benq i went from a 19 samsung lcd and was blown away so you're in for a treat. I bought the monitor and my ram mushkin redline ddr500 at the time was expensive and then my 8800 gtx on launch day so my upgrading is done for awhile. I'm waiting for the next jump in amd tech and will also look at intel and go from there. I'll check back when you get that 6000 and the monitor I'm sure you'll have some results and impressions
