Captnkill, you dont have to spend alot on ram anymore! Ram prices are way way less than they used to be. Check this out, these are D9 sticks too:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820146563

That ram was 300 bux not long ago, now its <200 after rebate... Im kicking myself in the ass right now LOL.

Good luck, bro. Let us know how well it overclocks on that Freezone.

Yeah I know, but still, I have to spend another $150 for practically nothing. There is little to no real world benefit from faster ram, and I'd still have the same capacity. I'm used to making large jumps in memory size for upgrades or large jumps in speed to go along with major system upgrades. This would basically be buying RAM just to use another motherboard, rather than buying ram because it needs upgraded.

If I went with 4Gb (which has crossed my mind...) I'd actually be getting a decent upgrade in the memory department, but the cost would be outrageous (for me). My system upgrades are usually relatively cheap. I buy the lowest model of CPU (to overclock), a good motherboard and good but low priced memory.

EDIT: Wow the prices really have come down recently haven't they? This is $40 cheaper than it was last time I checked a few weeks ago:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231098

And it comes with a free mini 512Mb flash drive. Heh, I'm half tempted to grab it now just to get in on the flash drive deal... but I have to resist, since I still don't know when I'll actually be doing an upgrade. With all the price drops that are flying around, the cheapest 45nm core 2 quad is looking really tasty, but I don't know how much those will be or when we'll see them. I'll probably still go for a 6420 or 6320.

HOLY ****!!!!!

That's some rediculious pricing for such nice chips from AMD! They're really trying to stick it to Intel right now.

Tell me about it. I bought my 6000+ for 229 yesterday...but the price just spiked up $10....but still a good price nonetheless....

Xion all I did is, ask you to READ, READ and READ AGAIN in order the posts where made and if you did you would not have any misunderstanding.

You refuse to do that and decided to mix the order of the replies and use them very selectively.

I'm fully aware off the art of selective replies and know it could only lead to endless arguments which you unlike me enjoy a lot. I can show you plenty examples of it in your posting history but you should know better.

This statement by you in post #36 :
"Use your brain and do some thinking for yourself, because this act of yours is really getting old."

Kind of completely cancels your not so sincere apology in the same post:
"Look, I'll try to reach a truce with you here. It's possible that both of us have misunderstood each other. So I apologize if this has turned into a flamefest because of that. That wasn't my intent. I was just trying to clarify the facts since you seemed to be contradicting yourself. My apologies to all."

Beside I was not looking for apology, all i ask for was for you to READ and not twist the facts around but since I know you have problem with that I would really prefer that you stay away from my posts completely and that should not be so difficult to do, or is it?

Great upgrade and for the money you're going to see very nice performance boost.
See AMD Performance Benchmark

If I had socket AM2 I would not think a second about such upgrade.

Now since I also have Freezone I'm very much interested how good it will cool this CPU.

I don't know which 5200+ you have right now, the 65W or 89W model? Anyway the 6000 is rated at 125W thermal power and that's a big increase.
http://www.amdcompare.com/us-en/desk...=ADX6000IAA6CZ

CooliT System recommends the Freezone for CPUs with total heat output of up to 175W.
Now if not overclocked you're more than safe there.

If you overclock you probably will get close to the 175W max and depending on the increase voltage you might even hit the wall.

If you go over the max 175W the Freezone TEC can handle, the Freezone will work like very low rated water cooling or air cooling. Meaning it wont be able to cool the overclock and will overheat a lot or most likely go in save reboot, depending on the mobo.
You need to watch this since the 6000+ is rated by AMD to run at 55-63C max temp.

AMD definitely needs to bring this CPU out with 65nm technology. I already pointed out in my origional post what AnanTech said about it in the review.

I did "READ READ READ" your posts. Even after you threw out the "Intel Fanboys" comment, which I told you is not a good idea. That is a derogatory comment and does nothing but put people on the defensive right away and suggest that you're out to start trouble. Everyone in the free English-speaking world appears to know this except yourself.

So I'm sorry if I didn't interpret your post perfectly, but when you go spouting off about "Intel Fanboys" and start arguing with me about there being a "significant margin" in performance between AMD and Intel high-end processors while calling me a fanboy personally here:

And I'll reply to any one of your posts I like. If you don't like it, then go cry to a mod and stop crying here. I haven't been reprimanded for anything in the past 6 months around this place; you're one of a select few individuals who seems to have a personal problem with me and can't let it go.

And I'll tell you what I told you in my last reply. If that's the case, then take it to PM and we can discuss it. This kind of crap doesn't need to be on the board.

Well, if I have problems with this (overclocking), I will get another alternative cooling method. I was hoping I didn't have to go there, but it looks like I'm gonna have to.

At any rate, I'm looking forward to pimping this thing out like Gib in a new red dress from Kmart.

Other than that, you're dead-on.
so the Barcelona statement was off, but the AM2/AM2+ one was dead on.

thx for the correction
