Though, I would love it if they did release an Opteron based off of the Barcelona core for AM2- that'd be sweet.

Too bad they wont.

The processor that has my eye right now is that 3600+ X2 Brisbane that's on 65nm. Guys are overclocking that chip from 1.9-->3.1gHz ~ 1.42V. I might just pick this up for a second system. You can get one for ~75$ right now. Heck of a deal.

Newegg has an open box for $58.00.

just great..not a good time for me to be tempted. I did some searching around and these brisbane cores seem to be a pretty sweet chip, especially for the money.

Most hardware sites report Barcelona as server chip for socket F to be released mid this year
and Agenda Quad-Core for Socket AM2 to be released later this year.
There is also some talk about AgenaFX Quad-Core for socket F as super fast gaming chip.

Here some news about the Barcelona, this Chinese site HKEPC Hardware usually has very accurate news.

Here BeHardware with some news from CeBit about Barcelona, Agena and Sockets AM2, AM2+ and AM3

Here my favored theINQUIRER is reporting Barcelona and Agena on Socket AM2+
and AgenaFX on Socket F (1207), the report is based on some German site news
Actually very recent news Dated 14 March 2007

Given that only an act of God would get it replaced should it die...probably.

AMD needs to cut prices even deeper to make thier procs attractive.AMD prices are still out of wack with Intels C2D performance.AMD needs a sugar daddy just to keep daily operations going. With capital expenditures cut by over 50% that FAB upgrade will take allot longer now, which means barky will hit retail in good #'s even later then fans hoped for.AMD does not have a war chest to fall back on,and stock prices will continue to tank as will profits.Mark my words, they will report another loss in Q3 to rival the one they just tossed on wallstreets, and share holders heads the other day.Not to mention they just finished tapping out the 10 billion with a B dollar line of credit they had, with that German holding company, and now have to start paying it back !!!

Another thing that needs serious deep cuts, are executive salaries in AMD's board room.

Yup. Maybe they should give away the chips, for free.
