Default G7 Failing?

today i noticed that my G7 mouse left click button is about to fail.

for some reason buttons double clicks sometimes when i click it once. Its so damn annoying.

Once in 5-10 clicks it auto double clicks on files, foldlers etc...

Plugged in different logitech mouse (i think its MX710) and that mouse works fine.

I'm quite sure that my mouse is defective, thats 2 defective logitech mouse in a year. First MX1000 failed, now G7.

anyone else had this issue?

I think my G7 does it every now and then, but I really haven't noticed any problems so far. I'll pay more attention to it now and see.

That sux, my MX1000 batteries don't seem to be holding a good charge and the signal gets lost every now and then. I'm still looking for a good replacement.

Try changing the channels if that's possible.

If you have the torquiose G7, they were notorious for that double-click problem. Mine failed within a few weeks so I called Logitech support and they sent me a new black G7 and it's been working great these past 6 months or so.

Just recently, I grabbed the new G5, and as much as I like the idea of being wireless, I don't think I'll ever get another wireless mouse. Huge difference in tracking, accuracy and no more weird glitches due to RF interference from my wireless router and laptop.

I replaced my first G7 mouse under warranty for the same reason.

I wrote a quick program to test the double click. It times the mouse clicks so if you press a button once and you get two clicks, they will be real close together, closer than human reaction time, thus caused by hardware failure. I've attached the app. Just run the .exe. You can test 3 mouse buttons. A log file will be generated and saved to your desktop.

I notice the G7 has a flaw... if you click the left or right buttons real fast, or in certain positions, you can get a second click due to the button spring bounce. This should occur infrequently enough to not be an issue but I believe it relates to the problem you've encountered.

I love Logitech mice but I've had to return several under warranty for faulty wheels and buttons. Seems their quality control is a little poor. They are also very secretive about hardware flaws. At least the honour their warranty.

it's really easy to get a new one under warranty. don't even have to send old one in.

The first number is the millisecond tick count since the app was started.
The second number is the millisecond time difference since the last click.
If the second number is less than 100 eg. typically 0-35, it is a double click likely caused by faulty microswitch.

Exact same thing happened to mine... at first I thought it was my imagination but then it went from being every 1 in 10+ clicks to every other click that would double click and it was unusable.

I have a new one now, but am still a bit worried about how long it will last this time (6 months for last one).
