Actually, so far I love Vista. I'm a little annoyed by UAC and the fact that DV isn't allowed- but everything else rocks.

Furthermore, this time URGE actually allowed me to restore my library- whereas in XP I always got an error message saying it had an error while trying to connect to my library.

So far Vista>XP by a billion lightyears. But, I have yet to play anygames. I'm thinking of dropping my second GTS in here just for kicks- but then I know my temps will skyrocket. Oh well...

Only downside- I had to wipe out my Kubuntu install to get Vista. I'm gonna' install Kubuntu on my other hard drive later today.

I have only two major concerns:

SLi support-

How well does it work in Vista? Will I see much of a benefit if I throw my other GTS back in this computer?

Audio:

I'm using the onboard audio on my ASUS A8N32 SLi Dlx. I'm just wondering that if I have it set to output 5.1 anologue signal- will it? Will I get 5.1 anologue surround in my games? Or am I stuck using Dolby Prologic (I've got my computer hooked up to a digital 5.1CH A/V reciever)?

I'll find out later today I guess.

I don't have SLI anymore, I know the support is there for certain configs, you'll find a lot more going through the drivers threads.

Audio - I just have my config set to 5.1 using and audigy4 and it sounds great. That's just mho of course, you may have more discerning ears than I.

I couldn't find a working driver for my on-board sound via Vista, that's why I went back to XP. Why use it if you can't get the sound to work? Vista is pretty much XP with a visual makeover in my eyes, but hey, what does that amount to around here huh?

Um... actually... I've been a bit preoccupied with Vista to re-install Kubuntu. I haven't even installed any games yet, I'm just tweaking and messing around with all the different options. I'm gonna' install Battle For Middle Earth tonight and see how well it games. So far I'm head-over-heels for Vista.

But don't worry, I'm still gonna' re-install Kubuntu. I just fear that Vista will probably get the most use.

I'm glad you're liking Vista, hope it works out for ya. I finally got the whole resolution issue figured out on Ubuntu.

Just for future reference (in case you try out 7.04):

sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx-new <---- Installs the latest NVIDIA drivers
restart
sudo nvidia-settings <------ Brings up the GUI NVIDIA Settings

Once you are in the GUI NVIDIA Settings, set everything to your needs and click on Save Configuration. Once you exit, Ctrl+Alt+Backspace to restart X and voila, you have a custom resolution! Dunno about your 8-series card(s) but it should work. Let us know how it goes!
