I think I will eventually get myself a lovely quad core proc and enjoy my folding experience

3 cores plus gpu == WINNAR !!!

Or, 2 cores plus 2 gpus == UBER !!!

Because Intel usually don't cut price on their latest Extreme products that early. However, the Q3 price cuts before Barcelona launch will affect the QX6800:

Good lord, that's a monster of a chip. Even if it is apparently a blast furnace.

Though I'm kind of surprised they didn't work in a SupCom reference or something...

Yes, even at stock they get warm but mine does 3.0 at stock vcore and 3.3 with 1.37vcore. It's pulling some juice at that point though and all 4 cores running Prime95 small FFT's indicate 120amp draw according to uGuru. My temps level out at around 70-75c after about an hr, depending on ambient. I've been running mine at 3.5 for the past week @1.44vcore and tenps are about the same as when I run 3.3@1.37vcore. uGuru shows 130amps with 4 instances of P95 small FFT's!

Decent water tames these pretty good and I wouldn't be afraid of going higher but I'm waiting on a new bios from abit.

Sounds like a monster, but I just can't get excited over a processor that idles around 50C at stock speeds. I'll wait for Penryn/Yorkfield.

Ya I want to jump but I don't want to go from a current idle temp of 25 to 50. No way.

I guess the question is, is it worth the extra $200.00 over the QX6700. I imagine most if not all QX6700's can easily O/C using the 11 multiplier rather than the default 10, but I wonder if the QX6800 can use a 12 multiplier just as easily and get up to 3.2GHz right away. Very curious.

The QX6700 has an unlocked multi. You can use any multiplier you like. I think the only difference between these is probably the QX6800s are using higher-binned chips and may be able to run slightly faster clocks.

Then again, I've seen a lot of X6800s that didn't overclock any better than E6600s.

Or the current administration and president for that matter. Which is saying something. Though I don't think a die shrink would make much difference for them.
