Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer

so release date is today for the U.S. anyone have a copy yet? I'm probably going to go with the digital download from Atari's website if they ever make it available.

for those that do have it, how do you like it? or hate it? complaints, praise?

I've had it for weeks in the UK I like it... it's less buggy than the OC when it came out, but i've found a few huge bugs! The story line is quite good, even from the start.

Well the dowload link for the DD version is up on Atari's website. Just got it installed myself, played through about 15 minutes of it. I like the new menu music. Game runs smooth as silk, no bugs so far. Not really digging the new warlock spellcasting sound, but meh I'll get used to it. The influence system is a lot more refined. Also the character design is lot more varied. First companion you pick up is a bald female wizard .

I haven't gotten to that point yet, but I think it all depends on your alignment. Depending on whether you choose to consume spirits all the time, once in awhile, or very rarely, your alignment will change. You HAVE to consume spirits to survive though. It almost seems like a drug addiction. If you give into it at every opportunity, you'll get chaotic and evil points. But if you only give into it when absolutely necessary, you'll get lawful good points. There's some other ways you can manipulate the system(for all the alignments in between I imagine).

Is the Atari website DD compatible with the D2D version?

Honestly would like to avoid buying it from Atari Directly... bought Silverfall from them and they have yet to ever release a new patch for the DD version.

EDIT: Oh man, its ****ed up at ATARI. You only have 30days to download the software after which you can never download it again... what bull****.

Yea, I probably should've just got it retail. But I'm too impatient to wait the extra 3 days it takes for games to get here in Alaska. And its not all bad. I mean, the game uses the same autopatcher as NWN2 so you don't need to worry about patches. And from what I read on the forums, the DD version is virtually identical to retail save for the lack of having to use the DVD to play and also the small activation process before running the game.

I'm not sweating the download thing either. I keep all my downloaded games backed up anyway.

edit: just found some information on the DD to D2D thing.

Despite the fact NWN2 was utter ****, I'm going to get this in the hope they fixed a lot of the issues with the game and toolset.

Was a huge fan of the Orginal NWN, and the Hordes of the Underdark expansion.

Yep, What he said, there's a bar on the left of your screen which drains and you fill it by "Soul Eating", but there's a console code for those that can't be bothered...since it gets annoying. When your bar is reduced, your attacks do less damage and your defences are lowered. You get to this point within about an hour, now, I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but at the point you do or don't get it, you make a choice about a character...if you're lawful, you'll likely have to fuel it yourself, if you're a total bastard... you won't, the computer will keep doing it for you... but the choice you make on this character will determine whether he/she joins your party or whether you have access to a different character... you cannot have both.

Ok, I won't ruin it for you, since I guess you'd know soon enough.

Within about an hour of playing, you'll meet xxxx and you can devour him or not. If you don't and take the lawful path, you'll have to do your own devouring... but also, you won't be able to get another character. If you save xxxx he joins you, if you devour him, you can get someone else.
