Perhaps you just need to re-read what I wrote so you don't have a confusion of what I said.

And Intel has had marchitecture with an on-die memory controller before, their new implementation is the smallest of my concerns on their upcoming hardware.

Motherboards are cheap... migration from Intel to AMD and AMD to Intel is pretty cheap once you have a good PCI-E card and memory. A good motherboard is what $200 online? Therefore rest the cost of a strick migration is just the CPU unless you are so outdated your memory is no longer any good either I love my C2D... but if AMD pulls a knockout id switch back without question and then if Intel pulled a counter punch id switch over again ....Obviously not months apart but I would migrate maybe twice in a year if things really leaped forward enough to justify the moves.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but with the introduction of Barcelona, AMD is also going to integrate the ability to run DDR3 and PCI-e 2.0. If this is true, you may need new memory and vid card to take full advantage of these new chips... I guess we'll see.

PCI-e 2.0 will be backwards compatable, and if your still on s939 like 30-50% of us, itll be the same as upgrading to c2d.

I thought only the server chip was coming out this summer and we would have to wait on a desktop version.

Most hardware site predict Barcelona is for for Socket F (1207) and should be in mass production by the end off June.

Agena is the desktop version off the Barcelona for Socket AM2 & AM3, to be released by September.

There is also talk about AgenaFX the super fast gaming version for Socket F (1207)

Here BeHardware reporting from CeBit about AMD Quad Core, AM2 compatibility.

PS
I just got the 1000W Enermax Galaxy for 2 AgenaFX CPUs (8 Cores) & AMD/ATI HD2900 XT CrossFire

Just thinking about it, my e-penis is getting very big right now.

As to video benches, how is Barcelona compared to c2d?
How much is the cpu going to cost?
