What OS are you running? Can you provide some more information? Your answers will depend on what you will have to do.

But, if you want to install the drivers using that method with the .run file, you will have to kill X. Go into a textmode terminal (CTRL+ALT+F1) and login as root....

Code:
$ telinit 3
$ cd /path/to/driver.run
$ ./driver.run
Follow the onscreen instructions. And after it is done, do....

Code:
$ nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf
And make the necessary changes in the file as specified in the readme on nVIDIA's website.

CTRL+O = Save File
CTRL+X = Exit

Now restart X

Code:
$ telinit 5
And you should return to your login screen, and you may or may not see the nvidia logo right before that happens for a split second. That will let you know its working.

To find out how to install beryl go here: http://wiki.beryl-project.org/wiki/Main_Page

All of this information can be found by reading instructions and www.google.com
