8600GT linux driver support when?

I noticed a zillion 8600GT reviews, and even retail availability in the channel (newegg.com for instance).

Any time line for a beta or release linux driver that supports the 8600GT? I understand that it's mostly a cut down version of the 8800, would the same
driver work?

I'm also interested in CUDA support with linux if anyone can comment on that.

@chunkey: are you getting those errors with the beta driver? If so, are they a regression from older drivers?

yes, there are... but that's why they're called "beta" drivers, right

1. cedega 6.0 & Oblivion (without oldblivion): (maybe a 32/64bit regression)
(see Archive.tar.gz for screenshots & nvidia-bug-report.log)

2. unusual X.org 100% freezes @ boot (only xorg100percentfreezes.txt)
(just a black screen, ssh didn't work anymore)


oh, and sorry for hijacking your thread.
I though about getting a 8600 GTS/GT too, but since you can get a 320MB 8800 GTS for less than 300 Euros...
