I wonder if you could run sli with one stock cooler and 1 hr03. I just picked up another gtx . If I can't run sli I'll just sell one of the gtx cards for a decent price. May have to pull the xfi out and use the onboard maybe.

I wonder if one of these HR03 heatsinks would help my situation...

Right now my card is idling at 70C at stock clocks. Its been like this since I got it. If I overclock, it'll idle at around *80*.

I'm thinking of just taking off the stock heatsink and reapplying the thermal paste or something (I have some arctic silver) to see if that does anything.

What kind of temps were you guys getting before you installed this thermalright sink?

I highly recommend one of these. Mine idled at about 62 stock and got up to 90 on load. With the HR03 Plus, it idles at 55 and goes up to 71 under the most extreme load I could manage to throw at it. Typically its around 65 when I game though.

I keep my room warm, so that doesn't help, but this cooler sure made a world of difference when under load. It was worth it.

Yeah, I'm definitely thinking of just dropping a chunk of change on some quality cooling that will last me a while. Hopefully one of these will work on future nvidia cards.

Jab-tech.com seems to have them for a pretty good price, and they also have the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme scheduled to arrive on the 30th. I think I'll just blow a crapload of money on the two best coolers currently available, that way I won't have to worry about buying any heatsinks for a few years, assuming they make everything compatible or sell adapters\brackets later on.

I would recommend it, I had simalar temps to yours, a little hotter in fact and it's done a great job. Was 68-70C idle/85-89C load and now it's 52-55C idle and 65-70C load.

Man these coolers are insane!..... 630MHz clock core, 1500MHz shader clock & 2.0GHz on the memory and still only 48c idle! ...... it still hasent passed 60c under load! ..... and i haven't even installed my zalman fan mate 2 yet.

I ran a quick test on the HR03 and I have to say Iīm impressed.

Stock idle temp: 59C
HR03 idle temp: 48C

Stock load temp: 70-75C (barely remember the exact number from last November)
HR03 load temp: 59C

The temps above are all with default clocks 575/1800

I didnīt have a proper fan so I just took a slow turning 120mm case fan. My best artifact free (ATItool) overclock with the stock heatsink was 605/2010, but with the HR03 I managed to get 650/2060 artifact free and with the memory at 2000 I didnīt get a BSOD until 665 on the core and whats also impressive is that the temperature never rose above 70C (max. 68C) and room temperature was rather warm at 24-25C.

Iīm sure I could have squeezed out better temperatures out of the stock cooler because the thermal paste they used didnīt look nice and was applied really thick. All the time I thought that I got a really crappy overclocker but after the quick overclocking with the HR03 I have changed my opinion quite a bit. I know the ATItool isnīt the perfect tool for artifact and stability tests, but for a quick OC test I thought it would be still useful especially because I have used the same method before with the stock cooling.
