Default 100.14.03 beta discussion

Are there any better release notes other than support for new video cards?

Bug fixes?

Performance changes?

Feature changes?

I'm always a little disappointed at the length of nVidia release notes.

http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree8...ppendix-a.html

Release Highlights:

* Added support for GeForce 8600 GTS, GeForce 8600 GT, GeForce 8500 GT, GeForce 8400 GS, and GeForce 8300 GS.

Funny it's not included in supported cards. I see, README is Beta too.

Otherwise, I will try it ASAP, waiting for the beryl black windows bug solution. Anyone tested it?

If you are building Nvidia driver from sources (everyone using self compiled kernel) you can download smaller Nvidia driver:
ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Li...14.03-pkg0.run
Please right click and choose: Save destination as...
Do not click on this link or you will get garbage on screen.

This driver is absolutely horrible. I cannot see the temperature of my first GPU, only of the second one.

MultiGPU -> screen is completely light blue, I can't see anything. And when such X is running and I switch back to the console: holy ****. I've never seen this before - check this screenshot, this is supposed to be a *blue* colored Midnight Commander. The red background is even moving!

Hi!

I got the driver running with ubuntu 7.04. The kernel modules were compiled.
However, although when I was asked if the settings should be saved I've choosed [Yes], i need to install the driver again in each restart! (xserver does not load without it).

Please advice,

(btw, got 8600 gt)

@zander: Is the MultiGPU problem known or should I attach a bug report too?

I can't get randr to work with the new driver. I am running libxrandr 1.2.1 and xorg-server 1.3.0.0. I have the

Option "RandRRotation"

in the xorg.conf file.

Running xrandr -q I get:

$ xrandr -q
Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display ":0.0".
RandR extension missing

Is randr supposed to work in the beta? If so how much of randr 1.2 is supported to be working (IE. is there now gamma table support?)?
