Unhappy poor performance with 8800GTX and compiz/beryl

Hello
I have just installed an ubuntu feisty, with the 1.0-9755 drivers.

The problem is that I have really poor performance with compiz/beryl.
I mean, when I try to maximise a window, there is some kind of delay, of 1 seconde. same when I try to minimze.
when I try to resize too, it's very long.
when I open a window it is not smoth too.
My flatmate has exactly the same system has me, whith feisty ubuntu, but with a 7900 and everything run perfectly.

I wonder why I have such poor performance, and how I can improve my xorg.conf
here is my xorg.conf

Code:
# /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf(5) manual page.
# (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following command:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

Please see this thread. You seem to be missing the same lines as StevenX.

actualy, this is not the same problem :

linoleum@punkcpu:~$ glxinfo | grep direct
direct rendering: Yes

I've got the direct rendering, and compiz/beryl works.
but it's really slow.
I had the same problem with my previous distribution gentoo.
So I guess it's 8800 related.

I've found that sometimes the Beryl benchmark has me running at half the frame rate necessary for my refresh rate. I haven't discovered why it does that, but it doesn't happen often. When it does, restarting the system fixes it. Have you tried using the Beryl benchmark plug-in to quantify what's happening?

actually, the problem is really focused on minimse/maximise/open/close/resise... it s men I transform a windows.

I have to uncheck detect refelsh rate, and set refresh rate at 200. Then it is really smoth
BUT, when I open, minimize, etc .. then I can see sloppyness...
when I maximise a windows, there is some kind of "lag" for 1 second, then it opens with sloppyness
I dont know how to fix it, it's really annoying
tkx

for the benchmark, when I activate it , it stop at 60 img/sec... even if distable autodetect refresh rate... I think the benchmark plugin is bugged for that.

Me too, 8800gtx is sooooo sloooo compared to my other system with 7800gtx. Very disappointing

And same, mainly when minimising maximising or resizing windows. Window effects such as zoom and magic genie and such stutter and slur like a drunken.

I would say it's with Compiz, Beryl, because the card flies with other 3D apps!

well , I have try everything possible from the xorg.conf so yeah, I think it has to do with beryl/compiz

btw, if I listen to the music, and I use kiba-dock for example, I have even have stutter in the music too !

I have similar delay when maximizing a window on my 8800GTS. I think it's the 2D rendering of the window texture which slows down the process, because even without beryl 2D window rendering is visibly slower than on my older 7600GT!

no i dont.

Anyway just tried to point out the slowness in 2D. I think nvidia is already working on it, we may have to wait some driver releases till we have a nice linux driver for N80

Window resizing and maximisation with Beryl and Compiz is slow here too using a 8800 GTS 320.

I've upgraded from a 7600 GS to a 8800 GTS a week ago and I can tell the difference.
Beryl on 7600 GS was very smooth and I'm quite disappointed to get lower performance from the 8800 GTS.

I neither did figured out how to get XVideo vsync under compiz or beryl
