100.14.03 + 8800 GTS + Cedega stopped working

With new driver cedega (6.0 and 5.x too) games stopped working on my 8800GTS. (Civ4 and HoMM5)

native games like ut2004 run fine .

The error:

X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 72 (X_PutImage)
Serial number of failed request: 84
Current serial number in output stream: 96


With previous stable version everything is okay!

(Also glxgears dropped from 22000 to around 16000.)

Just to be sure I reverted to old version, 9755 and cedega games work fine again. glxgears gives 22900 in contrast to beta driver's 16000.

On the new drivers, AddARGBGLXVisuals is enabled by default on sufficiently new X servers. This could be confusing Cedega. Try running it with XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 or setting AddARGBGLXVisuals to False in xorg.conf.

Krionius, did you do anything special for install the 9755 and have the nvidia drivesr working with your card?

My monitor lost signal when i use nvidia drivers.

Nothing special. Maybe consider that I am using DVI-DSUB (vga) converter, if you are using DVI, that would be a difference.

Thanks for the info, I will try it. I have Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True", because I am using it with beryl. Would I lose the option to run composite extension? Also I could run cedega with that option set to True with 9755. So doesnt it mean, that it's not the cause of the problem? Anyway, I will try it, thanks!

Oh, if you had ARGB GLX visuals enabled before, then you must be running into a different problem if Cegeda worked before and doesn't now. That was just the first thing that occurred to me as the most likely reason for it to get a BadMatch error with XPutImage.

It's still worth trying it with Composite disabled, and with Composite enabled but with Beryl not running.

Okay. I removed the option and Composite extension. Now it works! (Worth mentioning that with beryl not running and Composite on, beta produced the unworking Cedega, so I had to remove Composite totally to make it work)

So the bug is now that the new beta driver cant run Cedega with Composite extension, while 9755 could do that. Please make it work again in the stable version or upcoming new beta! Thanks.

Also (I could test it now with composite off that) 9755 and the beta is faulty with Cedega + Civ4 + Shaders switched on (in cedega parameters) with my 8800GTS. The ground in Civ4 is pure black. That would be another bug with 8800GTS to test with 9755 and beta too because with my 7600GT everything was Okay. Please have a look at that too while developing new drivers. Thanks!

Okay, I will try it soon.

I tried it, composite enabled, option set to 0. Switched from metacity to Beryl. It works - to be nice - very partially. Wobbling window worked other effects resulted in white window, and later using Force AIGLX render path, X freezed.

So the beta is missing something 9755 has.


...but both of the drivers are faulty with Cedega + Civ4 + Shaders + 8800GTS.
