Default NV18 GeForce4 MX 4000 AGP

every time i install GeForce4 MX 4000 AGP linux driver my screen res go to 800X600 and it wont let me change it to 1024X768, im useing nbuntu 7.04

Please start X with the following command:
startx -- -logverbose 6

and then generate and attach an nvidia-bug-report.log

The EDID being returned for your CRT appears to be returning garbage data, which is resulting in all of the modes failing validation. You can attempt to work around this by setting UseEDID to false, and creating a modeline.

i dont know how to do any of that if could tell me how and what not ill do it

The driver README documents how to accomplish what I recommended. If you have specific questions based on the content of the README, I'd be happy to answer them.

Its also installed with the driver in /usr/share/doc/NVIDIA_GLX-1.0/README.txt

i am not all that sure on what file i need to ghange the UseEDID in
