No, It was shot in widescreen originally. FOX wanted it in Full Frame but Wedon forced them into widescreen by having the actors stand at a distance.

FOX only owns the rights to the name, not the actual content so they made the movie and insted of calling it Firefly, they called it Serenity to get around the copyright issue.

Have you ever seen the series? Its probably one of the best Scifi series I have ever seen.

1. Rebuy the series in HD
2. possibly get a Blu - Ray player

of course I don't own a copy of the HD DVD version of serenity so..

I don't see why they wouldn't. The series sold so well on DVD that they made the movie. So I wouldn't dout it would sell very well on an HD Format.

Ah, okay. That makes sense I guess. So Fox just owns the name Firefly while Universal owns all the IP?

If that's the case...HD DVD ftw!

And yeah, I have Firefly. I love it immensely. It's too bad it was canceled.

No, Universal just owns the Serenity name... neither own the IP, Wedon does... which is why he can license it out for comics and a game (a MMORPG is planned to release next year).

They could put it out as Serenity: The Series on HD DVD and I'd be okay with that...

Yeah, I have the Firefly DVDs and they're widescreen so at least that's not an issue.

If they made another season with Universal backing them and released it on HD-DVD would get me to buy an HD-DVD Player.

A follow up for the series called Serenity: The Series would rock! We all know that probably wouldn't happen due to what took place during Serenity...
