Default xrandr rotate problem w/ TwinView

Hello,

I'm using 2 HP LCD monitors each at 1680x1050 landscape orientation with TwinView (latest nVidia beta drivers) to create a large desktop measuring 3360x1050. This setup works great. However, I'd like to be able to rotate them both to portrait orientation for work use. I can set one screen above the other with nVidia Settings program easy enough. Then I run "xrandr -o left" from the command line. The overall effect is what I'm interested in, but the screen mode is all wrong: it is always 1680x2100 instead of 2100x1680. Using the "xrandr --size" command locks up the desktop. I admit, I'm not the best w/ modelines in xorg.conf, but I've tried various combos. Documentation online about xrandr w/ Twinview is pretty sparse.

(System = Mandriva 2007, nVidia Geforce 6800, xorg 6.9)

Thanks for any help.

Please also include the output of xdpyinfo after rotating. You shouldn't need to mess with modelines at all.

Thanks for the reply. After more investigating using xdpyinfo, it appears the Kdesktop may be at fault? xdpyinfo lists the display as 2100x1680, but krandrtray lists the desktop size as 1680x2100. See attached screenshot, xdpyinfo output, and xorg.conf file. I'm able to mouse around the whole 2100x1680, but the desktop will not use the right 1/3 of the 2 monitors and draws off the bottom.

There was an old libXrandr bug that caused that problem, but I could have sworn it was fixed in X.org 6.9/7.0. I may be misremembering and it's actually fixed in 7.1, though.

Thanks. I'll try updating to xorg7.x and see if that fixes it. Having trouble finding rpm's of that for Mandriva 2006, and updating to Mandriva 2007 would be more than simple at this point. Compiling from source fails dependencies, etc., etc. Oh well. I'll keep working on it.
