Question need to reinstall driver every reboot

hi i installed the latest driver and with a bit o hassle got em running ok everything seems to work fine till i reboot and xserver fails with an api mismatch error however this is fixed if i again reinstall but dies if i reboot any ideas how to fix it?

ubuntu 7.04 64bit
intel dual core 2 duo e6600
nvidia 8600gt
