Default AMD to killed off Athlon brand on high end K10 CPUs

We wont see the brand in high end quad core CPUs.

AMD will replace Athlon brand with Phenom brand. Phew I think it the worst brand name.

AMD will move Athlon brand into mid range.

What do you think of new flagship desktop Phenom X4 instead of Athlon 64 X4?

Hmm... I'm not sure if I like the idea or not. I guess AMD has developed a bit of a bad name since Core2. Thus, by removing the Athlon name people will feel it is something extremely new and fresh- kinda' like Core2.

Interesting news.

I think I'm one of 7 people who actually like the "Phenom" brand. It's got a cheese factor, but I really think it works.

Riptide, everytime you post I think you're tygerwoody!

I actually like the Phenom name, reminds me of Venom, which reminds me of the Dodge Viper, which is a kick @$$ car.

LOL...I was thinking the same thing. I didn't look at the name, I just looked at the avatar.

I like the Phenom name, too.

What, Athlon was a good marketing name? I thought the name was horrible since day one. They still sold because they were good chips.
