With s939 and s754- there is only one possible way to mount the cooler. So I highly doubt he mounted it wrong.

Never heard of Itanium, a true 64-bit platform? AMD64 is just a primitive x86 extension, not a true 64b platform, and was launched AFTER Itanium..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Itanium

Unfortunately, even Intel wasn't strong enough to "sell" Itanium to the masses, because of poor 32-bit compatibility (=emulated), so we still have to live with obsolete x86 (or x86_64)

Hehe, you were in my house doing temperature tests with that Zalman and its orientation? No? Aha..

Yeah, I've heard of the Titanic line-up. And you are currect. Let me rephrase- AMD was the first to offer a 64-bit processor that is backward compatible with 32-bit applications (not emulated). To get best performance in 64-bit apps you need 64 registers- something EM64-T did not allow for untill the Core2s. That is why the Athlons were able to outperform the Any of Intel's CPUs in a 64-bit environment up untill the Core2s. I am sorry, but I don't think a crippled 64-bit or taping two cores together and screaming "WE HAVE D00L C0R3 T00!" is exactly a good idea. But if you like tape-ons, then enjoy 'em.

Definitely. But let other people buy AMD CPUs, and let me by Intel I am not getting any AMD, no matter how "awesome" it is, I had enough..

No, there are two, I have a 939 motherboard and it tells you to mount it the fan facing the back of the case.

I COULD have placed it facing upwards.

Then you have a unique mobo. There are only two screw holes that hold the mounting bracket on. To apply the HSF such as that Zalman you'd have to remove the mounting brack and utilize those two HSF. I can see how you would still be able to mount it sideways (as he should have), but that doesn't necessarily mean he mounted it wrong. I'm assuming he has the hot air blowing up towards the PSU- which isn't a bad idea actually. You're just nitpicking to make him appear uneducated. Kinda' pathetic actually.

So you're basically saying that the way you have your Zalman (drawing heat from the back of the GPUs) is more efficient than taking heat from a part of the case that will be cool?

Alright then. You sounded as if you wanted AMD to go under which would be among the most retarded statements I've ever read- but it seems I misunderstood you. I apologise.

You don't need to change the mounting bracket for AMD motherboards.

There is one thing I like about AMD and it's that their chipsets run cold as ****.
The thing I like about the 680i is that it has (3) x16 pci-e slots, SLI, and Intel.
Sucks that the best of both worlds can't be had.
